Canada is home to a number of beautiful national parks that attract outdoor enthusiasts from all over the world. Thanks to Canada's vast size, the parks are diverse and include mountain peaks, lush forests, glacial lakes, and pristine wilderness. Pacific Rim, British Columbia
It is located along the west coast of Vancouver Island. This is where the pristine Canadian wilderness is at its best. The Pacific coast is known for its wildest waves and you can even spot migrating humpback whales.
Banff, Alberta
Located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, it is the oldest national park in Canada and the third oldest in the world. The nature here is literally breathtaking and you can observe snow-capped mountain peaks, dense coniferous forests, alpine meadows and pristine lakes. Tourists mostly head to Lake Louise, which is one of the jewels of the Canadian Rockies.
Yoho, British Columbia
Spread across the western slopes of the Canadian Rockies, it boasts some of the least disturbed wilderness in North America. The park is home to many deep blue lakes with crystal clear water, as well as the sought-after Takkakaw Falls, one of the highest in Canada.
Jasper, Alberta
One of Canada's most famous parks is located on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains in western Alberta. Here you will also see majestic mountains and glacier fields, including many lakes. The rugged landscape is crisscrossed with hiking trails and you can observe a variety of wildlife.
Mont-Tremblant, Quebec
Located a few hours from Montreal and northeast of Ottawa, the park is home to six rivers and 400 streams and lakes. The park is home to forty species of mammals and its beauty can be seen by hiking one of eighteen hiking trails.
Cape Breton Highlands, Nova Scotia
Located on the northern tip of Cape Breton Island, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Gulf of St. Lawrence to the west, the park is characterized by a unique blend of boreal, taiga, and Acadian habitats found nowhere else in Canada. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including lynx, moose, grouse, and minke whales.
Gaspésie, Quebec
Located in the heart of Gaspé Island, the park is home to two of Quebec's most beautiful mountain ranges. It features arctic-alpine flora and remarkable wildlife. The park was established in 1937 to protect the reindeer of Gaspé Island and the salmon of the Sainte-Anne River.
Waterton Lakes, Alberta
Located in southern Alberta, where the prairie meets the peaks of the Rocky Mountains and borders Glacier National Park, the park is home to a number of lakes, streams, and waterfalls, which you can explore through its many hiking trails.
Thousand Islands, Ontario
One of Canada's smallest parks, it consists of an island chain in the St. Lawrence River. The park consists of twenty granite islands, hundreds of bays, and several mainland reefs. The park is also home to the richest wildlife population in the country.
Gros Morne, Newfoundland and Labrador
Located on the west coast of Newfoundland, it is the second largest national park in Atlantic Canada. The park is home to many natural wonders including granite mountains and deep fjords. Interestingly, the park is home to some of the best places in the world to access rare rocks that have emerged from deep within the Earth's crust.
