Blue Lake (New Zealand)
Located in Nelson National Park, the lake is known as the cleanest in the world. The lake is sacred to the Maori and is set in an alpine landscape fed by glacial waters.
Baikal (Russia)
In second place, surprisingly, is the deepest freshwater lake on earth, with a depth of up to 1650 meters. The lake is estimated to be 25 million years old and is home to many endemic species.
Crater Lake (USA)
Located in Oregon and formed in the caldera of a collapsed volcano, the water has a distinctive blue color and is also the deepest in the US with a measured maximum depth of 567 meters.
Lake Mashu (Japan)
Caldera Lake is located on the Japanese island of Hokkaido. The waters are crystal clear, allowing visibility of up to 30 meters. The lake is surrounded by many legends, which makes it a popular destination.
Lake Tahoe (USA)
Located on the border of California and Nevada, its waters are surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The lake is 514 meters deep and is a popular destination for visiting or boating.
Lake Königssee (Germany)
In sixth place is the lake located in Bavaria and stands out for its emerald green color. It is part of the Berchtesgaden National Park and is accompanied by many legends.
Lake Wakatipu (New Zealand)
With visibility of up to 18 meters, Lake Wakatipu ranks seventh. Located on the South Island, it is the longest glacial lake in the country.
Lake McKenzie (Australia)
Located on Fraser Island, Australia's Lake McKenzie is nestled in white, quartz sand. Its remote location makes it a tropical paradise.
Moraine Lake (Canada)
One of the most beautiful lakes located in Banff National Park in Canada. It is known for its turquoise waters and ten peaks rising in its background.
Five Flower Lake (China)
This lake is located in China's Jiuquan Valley National Park. Visibility is up to nine meters and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its stunning waterfalls.
